My clients are not as busy as last year for the most part, but some of them have been very active, hence the lack of posts for awhile. My numbers are down a little, however, it does allow me to keep my stress level at areasonable level. With the losy weather we have been having, the opportunities for night shoots are few and far between.

Only six months ago…

It seems my last post was six months ago. Since then I have been busy shooting many places. Over the summer I visited Europe. Before then, the furthest east I had been was Chicago! While in paris I shot the apartment of Napolean III. The dining room table seats 45 and is at least 30 feet long. The apartment is very opulent. I have included as part of my standard repetoire HDR imaging also known as bracketing. I will soon post a gallery page of my examples.
Going back to my childhood…
I have been very busy with shoots including some new techniques that I should create a gallery for one day when I have time. Anyway, I had a shoot on Bowen Island yesterday. It has been a little while since I had been there to shoot. This place brought me back to my childhood. My grandparents had a cottage located on the south part of Birch Bay that had waterfront access by stairs down the bluff. Click here to view.
Images a perfect fit in MLX!

Recently, the Real Estate Board of Greaer Vanouver has updated their image handling for their mlx system on their private system. The default image size is now 480×640 pixels. I am assuming that with all of the point and shoot cameras out there that shoot in four-thirds format, they finally decided to update it. Most of my collegues shoot in 3×2 format, but I can shoot in the following formats for my clients:
- 4×3 - vga display and point and click
- 3×2 - most dslr cameras (Nikon, Canon)
- 16×9 - for hd displays
- 6×6 - medium format cameras (Hasselblad)
The Different Aspect Ratios of Cameras
Receintly, I read on a real estate web site that an agent was providing his viewers with HD images. My camera that I bought in March shoots in a number of different aspect ratios. I ran some tests and found that if this person is doing that, his visitors are getting short-changed on their viewing pleasure. Here is an image cropped to represent the different aspect ratios:

As you can see, the best aspect ratio for viewing is 4×3, which is the same as your older compter monitors and laptops.
Portfolio Update!
Finally,
I have had a chance to update some of the images. The only area with changes is the virtual tour section. Over the summer I may add a new area for panoramic images. Not sure how I will do that yet. Enjoy!
